Steve Caldwell helped my wife and I purchase the right home in Roanoke. We were moving from Tennessee and wanted to get into a home right away and not put our furniture in storage. We couldn’t have had a better experience working with Steve Caldwell. My wife and I needed to move from Boston to central Virginia for work in a three month time period, and from the beginning, Steve did a great job taking as much anxiety out of the home buying process as possible. We found Steve through a Yelp! review, and we are extremely happy we selected him. From the moment my wife spoke to him on the phone, he was ready to go. He asked targeted questions to help narrow down the options for our visit, and then he frequently followed up with listings and questions. Having Steve with us when we toured houses was invaluable. He was able to point out aspects of the house that would have been difficult to assess on our own, such as the quality of construction, the condition of appliances, and the general layout of the house. His advice and unique insight helped us make informed decisions. However, he also knew when to give my wife and I a bit of space to collect our thoughts and talk them through. After a handful of houses, he had a great sense of what we were looking for, and could even predict what houses we would like and not like before we saw them. Steve was also very helpful during the negotiation process. He gave us his thoughts on our offer, and then communicated our feelings to the buying agent. Whenever we received a counteroffer, he would talk through the options with us. After we successfully had an offer accepted, Steve was able to recommend people for inspections and a survey, contacted the people needed on our behalf, and went to oversee the home inspection as our representative (since we were back in Boston at that point). Even after we moved into our new home Steve continued to assist us. He frequently checked in to make sure that the remaining repairs were completed as specified in our contract. He even made phone calls himself when he felt that repairs were not being done quick enough or to his satisfaction. He also just checked in to see how we were settling in and offered general suggestions for restaurants and entertainment in the Roanoke area. We cannot recommend Steve highly enough. He was always available day and night, and is as honest and open as you can get. We hope you have as great an experience as we did!
We recently purchased a condo with Steve’s help. It took us quite a while to find what we wanted, and he was very patient. Once we were in contract he was there every step of the way. Things were a little bumpy with the seller but he was on top of every detail. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Steve to anyone!
